Up for sale is a brand new genuine Mazdaspeed Short Shifter. Since Mazdaspeed has discontinued their product line for the RX-7 FD3S, this short shifter is extremely rare especially in brand new condition. It took me ages to find one in decent condition on Yahoo Japan auction, let alone a brand new unused item. I'm pretty sure this is the last one.

This short shifter is an updated version. From the pictures below, you can see the design of the packaging carton box has changed but with the same Mazdaspeed part number. Many considered this shifter to be the best and the smoothest shifter for the FD as it was manufactured by Mazda itself.

Selling it for $580 including registered postage to anywhere in Australia. I'm only selling the short shifter as I need the money before the weekend so only buyers who can make a direct deposit in the branch before the bank is closed. I will not be needing the money after tomorrow so this sale will end on Friday 23/9/11 at 4pm if no one is interested.

Please only make enquiry if you are genuinely interested and have the money to pay for it. Offers are welcomed but no time waster!

Pick up is available in Brisbane. If you have any questions, please feel free to send me a PM. Thanks!

Nope! I got burnt by them when I purchased my so-called Mazdaspeed short shifter from them. They sent me a plain package with just the shifter with no factory packaging, instruction manual and Mazdaspeed warranty card. They said they removed all that to save postage. How heavy was a few piece of paper? The shifter doesn't even look like the genuine one. When I bought mine, it was also the "last one" so go figure.

I am interested as to how you could tell it was not a genuine Mazdaspeed shifter?

This is the one I bought from SR Motorsports, it came in plain packaging as you described, but has a photocopy of the instructions, and looks exactly the same as the genuine Mazdaspeed short shifter in your photos...

This is Viktor's photo from his previous for sale thread, which looks exactly the same as the shifter I bought, except for the missing white nylon bush...

If there is a way to confirm that it is not a genuine Mazdaspeed short shifter, I' d like to know, so I can get my money back?

^^^^Different bolts, no nylon spring seat on the end of the shift ball.

Two immediately noticeable differences.

Different bolts to the most recent shifter that Viktor sold, but same bolts as in the photo of the first shifter that Viktor sold, as in the last photo above...

Genuine Mazdaspeed would have genuine PRINTED instructions and warranty card. NOT a photocopy of the instructions and no warranty card.

But having said that, what difference does it make if it's genuine or not? It's going to do the same job isn't it?

The difference is $.

If I wanted a copy, I would have bought the RX7Store copy, at $199, rather than what I expect to be a genuine Mazdaspeed shifter at $399...

Can't see any physical differences that could be used to argue that it is not genuine, so will just have to live with it.

If you compare this photo of Viktor's first shifter that he had for sale...

...to the shifter I bought...

...the rubber moulding around the base, next to the bolt holes, looks the same, and it even has a similar white dot painted onto the side of the shaft.

Your shifter is shorter.

Simon, in total I have bought 3 short shifter for my car. All were made or claimed to be made by Mazdaspeed. My second and third shifters were recently sold on this very forum.

The first one I bought was from SR Motorsports almost 4 years ago. However, the shifter I received from them didn't look like the one you have. I remember it looked a lot like the stock one or the one RX7 Store is selling. It has a steel colour body with no black paint on it. It was also longer and more "slender" when compared to the second shifter that I bought. I have seen what a Mazdaspeed short shifter looks like to know what I received from SR Motorsports wasn't a genuine one. With them insisting it's real and it being an international transaction there's nothing I could do but just live with the fact that I spent a lot of money on a replica.

Yours, on the other hand looks exactly the same as my second shifter which I bought in a Yahoo Japan auction. So either SR Motorsports ripped me off big time or you got lucky with them and bought their real last MS shifter. Either way I would never trust them with a dollar again!

Thanks Viktor.

Looks like mine is probably genuine then, if not then not much I can do about it anyway, thanks for the info.

Might of helped that I specifically asked them by email beforehand to confirm that it was actually a genuine Mazdaspeed shifter, so maybe they figured that they couldn't get away with shaftng me so easily.

Your comments had me worried, and there are a number of other reports of them doing similar things with other products. Maybe they just got better at making copies.

Does anyone know if the RE Amemiya shifter is also a short throw like this one or just a replacement part?
