The FD for sale thread. (Gumtree,Ebay,CarSales etc..)
Hi Everyone,
I'm starting a thread to keep track of cars for sale, so we can get insight into the history of our cars and keep tabs on what's happening in the market in terms of prices etc..
I'll keep things off with this Spirit R.
http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/granv...upe/1076796491
Asking $47,000.00
Yes it looks clean, but it's been 'groomed' by our favorite Marcus Reed, who is known for various shifty dealings in the past.

That's the exact reason for this thread. So we can keep track of cars like this and also prevent others from falling into the fly trap.
Thanks for that, do you know if there is a way to look up cars that previously went to Auction in Japan? Is there any archive where you can see the cars and the auction sheets? Or do you have to save this as they come to auction?
I'm wondering what it sold for at auction as an accident damaged car?
Thing is some wood ducks must be buying these cars as they are not the first ones he's done.

Re: The FD for sale thread. (Gumtree,Ebay,CarSales etc..)
Accident damaged cars generally sell for A LOT less as you would expect.
I haven't ever come across past sales history with full details.
The closest I have seen is this.
http://www.j-spec.com.au/typical_sale_prices
Please never ever use J-spec as a broker though, my friend never received his car and lost out almost 7k after legal fees recouping most his money. Was forced to sign a confidentiality agreement to get the funds returned, so never spread his story. I almost never received my last Spirit R as well.

They deserve what they get. They're young and stupid and think Facebook is the font of all knowledge.
You try and make it easy, but some just need to learn the hard way.

I used Iron Chef this time around, they even helped by meeting up with the previous owner to buy his left over spare parts for me. Can't rate them highly enough.
They have my FD as their cover pic on fbook.

Re: The FD for sale thread. (Gumtree,Ebay,CarSales etc..)
Anything that is decent will generally fetch good money in Japan, the Japanese are not silly and are not just going to give excellent examples away. Certain low life's, buy the cheapest available, most likely are damaged or in general poor condition. They then cover this up all in the name of a quick and undeserved dollar to be made from a poor victim.

Re: The FD for sale thread. (Gumtree,Ebay,CarSales etc..)
I thought that you couldnt bring in accident damaged (grade R) cars.
Thats what I thought when I was looking to bring one in, that the car would have to be returned to japan if it failed inspection here or may end up in the crusher.
Can anyone elaborate ?
How was he able to bring in a grade R car ?

Because he works for mazda, thats why they call him mazda marcus lol.
On a serious note, you are able to do this by being super friendly with your compliance guy. Just get him to comply your car, its as easy as that... of course you would want to hide the damage as much as you can... so whos got all the spare parts?

Oath! People seem to forget that FDs (even the newest ones) are more than 12 years old! If it looks too good to be true, there is a very very good chance that it is.

I imported my FD back in 2007.
Back then any car with structural damage wasn't eligible. However cars in accidents with minor panel damaged (& repaired) were eligible for import and rated R at auction too.

News reader cannot stop laughing at model falling over! - YouTube
I'm sorry, but I'm like this black reporter I just can't stop laughing.....
To quote Kristian Appelt from here:
http://www.motoring.com.au/news/2015...new-cars-50554
Quote:
Appelt does worry that some agents in Australia can be less than scrupulous, and try to "slip stuff through," prompting him to express the view that the current legislation "lacks teeth" and the moral-free importers should "get clobbered".
"They tread heavily and carry a small stick," he observed of the regulators based in Canberra. An agent who repeatedly abuses the process should have their licence to import vehicles rescinded.

As I've said before compliance is just a formality, it's basically a paperwork signing exercise. They couldn't tell me what they changed on my car, and as far as I can see nothing on it changed....

I don't think minor damage should be an issue, obviously write off's should be. What is dishonest is that Marcus is not presenting the car as an accident repaired vehicle, he is presenting it as a mint 'original' car.
My car was damaged lightly at the front after it was stolen, it was repaired and I have no problem with that (I know that some may be off-put) but the car he is selling could be good. It's just his methods that are dishonest and he can't be trusted. He's fudged VIN numbers before etc..
