SOLD: 1987 323 AWD Turbo Hatch

Hi all,

I recently have had my Daily written off and purchased a super rare Australian delivered 1987 323 hatch. It's one of around 200 brought into Australia for the WRC campaign to go ahead. I don't know too much about these but it's a hoot to drive.

All the details are on Gum Tree and I'll answer questions as best I know.

I'm selling it because I need to pull a small trailer but the 323 won't up to the task and really it is too unique to be a daily work horse.

I owes me $7k - The previous owner was asking $10k and had insurance for $12k but we all know it's only worth what it sells for.

It's in great condition and really is appreciated in the flesh.

Rally version at a state rallysprint locally a few years back, recall something about the 'box being a weak link.

This is a genuine Aussie 323 model not a Japanese Familia. Yes the gearboxes won't tolerate several WRC stages or WRX donuts...

And when said gearbox lets go, the car needs to be dragged onto a tow truck. The wheels will not turn, no matter what you do.

It's the same car essentially as the Ford Laser TX3 (which was built by Mazda).

That would be an awesome daily just for the 'different but not stupid' factor. I actually know a guy that's had one since new.

Gearboxes aren't as weak as people carry in about. Perhaps if you have no mechanical sympathy you will break one but drive normally and you wont have any problems.

I had a later model Familia for years as a daily and never hurt the box (did wear out the clutch though). Did plenty of track days and autocross with it. Had the boost wound up to 1 bar too
