Mazda RX-8 13B Engine [not strictly FD but could be put in one!], flywheel and pressure plate. $1,200
For sale, a RX-8 13B Engine with intake, alternator, coils, clutch and flywheel.
The engine was bought from a wrecker on the Northside of Brisbane some time ago for a project but never used.
Engine hours or km's unknown.
The engine has never been started by me.
The engine is sold as is [without the small dolly underneath].

Any idea on condition of the box, crunchy etc. ?

Hi Qqc,

It was sold to me by a wrecker as a working box. I haven't run it in a car so I can't really confirm the condition 100%. It is however shifting as one might expect and the input shaft turns freely.

Just a FYI, those front discs and calipers are the big brake 17 inch ones off an RS or RZ.

Great if you want to upgrade your FD brakes from the standard 16 inch wheel variety, (type RB,RB-S,R,Bathurst R etc).

I was pretty sure they were different from the normal models. Thanks for the validation.

The biggest difference (and easiest way to tell them apart) is the thickness. The 'normal' discs are 22mm thick. The big ones are 32mm thick.

You can perform this check almost instantly without having to remove wheels or anything else like that (so long is you can stick a hand through a wheel).

An update on the 13B engine for sale.
Compression test conducted today at Bayside Automotive.
Test shows good readings. Apparently quite high for an RX-8 engine. Also twin drive by wire throttles is not normal I am told.
The pictures tell the numbers. Pressure in PSI.

That will be a test engine I suspect. I seen several of them at Adelaide Jap imports before the RX8 was even released. I have 2 rotor housings from Renesis test engines.
