Bump up image resolution?

I'm not sure if people pass the hat around occasionally for server costs or what impact it would have on operating cost but is there any chance of increasing the pic upload resolution? Or is there a pic hosting site that hasn't turned to holding people's images to ransom? I want to try and contribute as I actually start doing stuff on my car but if it takes a massive effort to be able to share decipherable images it is a disincentive to make detailed posts.

I just rented a webhotel, got me a domain, and put all my images there. Then there wont be a "next time" som site we trused went ev0l on my ass.
